There is a ship called the Arirang sailing off the coast, its white hull cutting through Atlantic water, seven figures standing on deck in the last of the afternoon light. They have been apart — years of solo work, of military service, of separate lives lived at full volume — and now they are back together on a tall-masted frigate with the wind in the sails and a song called Swim, and the word reunion doesn't come close to covering it. Borahae is a fan art series born from that moment: eight chibi sculptures in white porcelain — seven members of BTS and the actress Lili Reinhart, who walked the deck of the Arirang in a gold silk dress for the music video of their comeback single — each one hand-crafted in the same YuzuYume language of oversized eyes and infinite detail, cast as a love letter to one of the most extraordinary stories in contemporary music.
 

To my fellow A.R.M.Y.: you already know what it felt like to watch that video for the first time. The Arirang moving through the water. All seven of them on deck. Borahae — the word Taehyung invented, purple being the last colour of the rainbow, the colour of trust and love that lasts. These sculptures were made from that feeling: the particular ache of having waited, and the particular joy of watching them come back together on a ship named after the oldest Korean folk song there is, sailing into whatever comes next. 보라해.
